The White Line is a series of multiples reflecting on the imposition of boundary on landscape. The view depicted in these images is a portion of the southern border of the Nevada National Security Site (formerly the Nevada Test Site). The United States Federal Government conducted nuclear weapons tests within the confines of this site from 1951 – 1992. The location shown in these images was the site of several protests and acts of civil disobendience.
The color palettes used in these images were generated programmatically using Processing. (The 928 images presented here were selected from an initial output of 20,000.) The images were finished using Adobe Photoshop. This website was generated using Jekyll.
